Board Appoints Shandra Lamback
Principal, West Side Elementary

MARIETTA, GA -The Board of Education of the City of Marietta has named Shandra Lamback —the current Assistant Principal at Vanderlyn Elementary, Dekalb County School District—as the new Principal at West Side Elementary. Lamback assumes the post July 1, 2014.

Lamback brings seven years' experience as a teacher, and six years' elementary grades administrative experience as an assistant principal. A graduate of Cambridge College in Cambridge, MA, Lamback earned a Masters of Education Leadership degree. She also has an Education Specialist degree from Troy University in Phenix City, AL and a Bachelor of Science degree at Paine College in Augusta, GA.

She has strong experience in collaboratively supporting teachers to challenge all students to their next levels of achievement. Additionally, she brings experience in seeking school Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) certification, standards-based instruction, and implementing opportunities for students to shine.

"I feel that my expertise will establish a strong foundation on teaching and learning as an essential component for continued student academic success at West Side Elementary," said Lamback, "Marietta City Schools has educational goals and expectations that foster innovative ideas. It is an honor to join a school system with so much promise and passion for the students served every day."
