Director of Communications, Marketing and
Public Relations at Marietta City School



MARIETTA, GA -MCS Board names Sommer Delgado Director of Communications, Marketing and Public Relations.

Sommer Delgado was recently named Director of Communications Marketing and Public Relations for Marietta City Schools. Delgado comes to Marietta City Schools from the Georgia Department of Education where she served for 3 years as the Communications and Public Relations Project Manager for the statewide School Nutrition Program. Delgado started her career in Paulding County Schools as a Communications, Public Relations Specialist, and has prior experience with marketing, promotions, reporting, video-editing, graphic design and social media. Delgado has a bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College.

At MCS, Delgado will be responsible for strategic communication, marketing and public relations, providing vision and leadership in the planning, development and implementation of all marketing strategies, communications and public relations activities. Her duties will encompass serving as information liaison between the school system and the community at large. Delgado reports to Superintendent Dr. Emily Lembeck, and is a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet. Her first day on the job with MCS will be Monday, May 19, 2014.

Delgado replaces Thomas Algarin who served as the Director of Communications and Information.
