Principal Receives Elementary School Principal Leadership Award
Jennifer Hernandez receives prestigious Leadership Award, April 25, 2014
MARIETTA, GA -– Jennifer Hernandez, Principal of Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (MCAA) received the Elementary School Principal Leadership Award from the International Association for STEM Leaders at its inaugural invitation only STEM leadership summit held April 24-25, 2014, in Washington, D.C. The International Association for STEM Leaders is globally recognized for creating a "golden standard" for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) excellence in traditional and non-traditional educational settings for all Pre-kindergarten through adult students.
“Ms. Hernandez is very deserving of this recognition,” said Dr. Emily Lembeck, Marietta City Schools Superintendent. “She exemplifies the 21st Century leader; visionary, supportive of educators through changes in practice, innovative, and seeking to continuously improve educational experiences for all students so they eventually graduate college and career ready.”
MCAA named as the first STEM certified school in the State of Georgia in 2011, named a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School, and a 2012 and 2013 Georgia School of Excellence under Mrs. Hernandez’s direction. She has worked in partnership with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, the US Navy, Kennesaw State and Southern Polytechnic State Universities, and the American Society of Civil Engineers and has been on the cutting edge of STEM education in Georgia, and now the nation.
